
TRAINING NEEDED TO BECOME AN AVP FACILITATOR
Each prospective facilitator must complete:
Level 1 (The Basic)
To build a safe community for the workshop, participants agree to follow a set of Trust Guidelines including the following: -no putdowns of others and self
-look for, and affirm one another's good points
-volunteer yourself only
-maintain confidentiality
Participants are lead through a series of exercises that focus on:
•Affirmation -- Building self esteem and trust.
•Communication -- Improving both listening skills and assertive methods of expression.
•Cooperation -- Developing cooperative attitudes that avoid competitive conflicts.
•Creative Conflict Resolution -- Getting in touch with the inner Transforming Power to resolve violence.
*Violence in its many forms is explored, as well as it's causes.
These exercises are interspersed with "Light and Livelies"--- fun exercises to restore energy and enthusiasm
Level 2 (Advanced)
In the first day, facilitators lead participants through a consensus process to choose one or two themes from those listed below
•Fear -- Reveals the hidden fears that usually underlie anger, jealousy and prejudice.
•Anger -- Results in a deeper understanding of the personal situations that trigger anger.
•Power -- Deepens understanding of the varoous kinds of power; emabling each to get in touch with their own
•Communication -- Develops the skills and the ability to communicate in tense and stressful situations.
•Forgiveness --Learning how to free oneself from the heaviness of resentment..Hate corrodes the hater, not the hated
•Stereotyping -- Builds awareness of stereotyping, bias and prejudice in personal relations.
•Man-Woman relationships -- Explores issues of fear, anger, power and powerlessness.that block harmony
.Grief: --coming to terms with the many kinds of losses, personal and situational, one experiences.
The wishes of all participants must be accomodated in order to in order to achieve a "win-win" outcome for all. Team members meet at the first days end to select exercises that bring new insights from chosen theme(s)
Level 3 Training For Facilitators(T4F)
Some participants who have completed the previous two workshop levels explore the possibility of becoming an Apprentice Facilitator by planningn and facilitating segments, of a Basic level workshop. This is done under the guidance and supervision of experienced facilitators.
After successful completion of the T4F, participants are invited to apprentice on workshop teams.
Full facilitator status is granted after participating in a number of workshops and recommendation from the team members in these workshops.
